apountry will officially be sending one more representative to Canton, Ohio.
Denver superfan Robert Garner will be inducted into the Ford Hall of Fans, which is located inside the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Garner got the news Friday morning via a knock at his hotel room door in Miami by Hall of Fame president David Baker.
“I don’t even have any words to describe it,” Garner said. “I’m blown away, I’m so excited and I’m so emotional. I can’t wait for the induction.”
Garner, 40, is a firefighter from Fort Collins who hosts one of the biggest pregame tailgates at Mile High. A season-ticket holder since 2010, Garner earned a trip to Super Bowl LIV with his family as one of three finalists this year for the Ford Hall of Fans.
The 40-year-old owns a 1976 Ford fire engine that he’s customized as “apountry Engine No. 7,” and the truck is a popular sight at Broncos tailgates and at the various charity events that Garner drives it to around the area. Last year, Garner and other superfans helped raise nearly $10,000 for various local charities at his tailgate.
“I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish with the tailgate and in the community,” Garner said. “And I’m so proud of apountry for helping me get here by voting so much and making me a finalist.”
Garner will be going into Canton alongside the other Ford Hall of Fans finalists, Kansas City’s Janel Renee Carbajo and Tampa Bay’s Keith Kunzig, as they also received a knock from Baker. Carbajo, 58, is known to Arrowhead Stadium faithful as “The Puppet Lady,” while Kunzig, 52, goes by “Big Nasty” at Buccaneers games. Both have been season-ticket holders for their teams for over 30 years.
