The FBI has warned the public that a pickup truck stolen recently in Lakewood contained a tool with small amounts of radioactive material inside that could prove dangerous.

The white F-150 pickup truck held a Troxler nuclear density gauge, which ordinarily is not hazardous but could be if someone tampered with it, according to a Wednesday news release by the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force. The tool was inside a yellow container.

A suspect carjacked the pickup owned by Kumar and Associates at 4:17 a.m., Saturday, the release said. The pickup’s Colorado license plate is 467-BQH, it said.

The vehicle had a Kumar and Associates decal on the side and possibly the number “171” on the tailgate.
