Colorado health officials confirmed 86 more cases of the novel coronavirus Friday, bringing to in the state — a number that officials have acknowledged is still far below the actual number of infected patients.
Forty-four people are hospitalized from COVID-19, the highly infectious respiratory illness caused by the virus. Four Coloradans have died from the illness, including two people on Thursday.
The state has now tested nearly 3,700 people as it attempts to check residents in all corners of the state to gauge the virus’s true spread. Colorado officials have admitted that testing is still not where it needs to be.
Denver and Eagle counties — with 67 and 61 cases, respectively — have the most confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, although Eagle’s rate of positive cases per 100,000 people is more than 100 times higher than Denver’s.
