Opening day was supposed to be Thursday. The Rockies were supposed to play at San Diego vs. the Padres and then host the Padres at Coors Field on April 3 in the home opener.
The coronavirus pandemic has wiped out those cherished rites of spring.
So how are the Rockies coping? They’re doing what we’re all doing — trying to stay safe and healthy. And they are sending messages of support to fans and those in society who are putting themselves in harm’s way.
Here is Nolan Arenado’s message:

Manager Bud Black has a message to all of our unsung heroes:

This from Denver native Kyle Freeland:
Be smart, be safe, thanks so much and see you soon!

This from outfielder David Dahl:
The cool thing about sports is that it brings people together. But for now, and stay safe. We will get through this. Can’t wait for us all to be back together. 🙏🏼📞

And this from Trevor Story:

And Charlie Blackmon adds his own brand of humor:
I just went into the scary basement, fought off spider webs, and fixed my hot water heater with actual wrenches. This is how bad we need baseball to come back.
