Vice President Mike Pence will deliver remarks at the Air Force Academy’s graduation in Colorado Springs on Saturday, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The Office of the Vice President announced Tuesday night that Pence will travel to Colorado Springs and deliver remarks at the academy’s annual graduation. “Additional details about the vice president’s trip are forthcoming,” according to the White House.

“Itap confirmed!” the Air Force Academy announced on Twitter. “The Vice President will speak in person at our graduation for the Class of 2020.”

Pence was scheduled to be the speaker this year before a coronavirus pandemic threw plans into question. The speaker role rotates annually, and President Donald Trump delivered remarks last year. Pence heads the White House’s coronavirus task force.

, Pence will be part of a small crowd greeting Air Force Academy graduates. Guests are not allowed in the academy.

Cadets will graduate on a terrazzo on campus rather than Falcon Stadium, , because the terrazzo offers more room for them to practice social distancing. The school’s traditional high-fives and hugs are prohibited.
