The Colorado Rockies’ social media managers decided to have some fun during a far-from-average afternoon on Twitter, Wednesday.
With most verified accounts across the site temporarily frozen by a hack, the Rockies’ handle played along with a tweet intimating it might have been hacked, too.
The tweet, sent out at 4:52 p.m., offered Bitcoin to followers with a supposed address. “All Bitcoin sent to address below will be sended back quadrupled for the next 5280 miliseconds,” the tweet read.
Dozens of replies followed within minutes, including one from the Rockies that said “Just kidding,” with a GIF of a laughing Nolan Arenado.
So was it all a ruse? According to replies from the account, yes.
