A garage fire in Douglas County spread to the adjacent residence Thursday afternoon, and firefighters doused the blaze before it spread to other homes and surrounding vegetation.

There were no reports of injuries, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

The fire broke out about 2 p.m. at 7661 Deer Trail Drive, Parker. The property is surrounded by tall trees and wild grasses.

A recent run of dry, hot weather has raised wildfire concerns. Firefighters were able to stop the fire before it made a run through surrounding properties.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
