Colorado voters will decide this fall whether they want all proposed fee-funded state programs to come to them for approval before they can be created.
The Secretary of State’s Office qualified , the “Vote on Fees” measure, for the November ballot Monday afternoon. If approved, voters would have to approve the creation of any new state program with projected or actual revenue expected to exceed $100 million within the first five years.
“Itap official, Coloradans will get to vote on strengthening TABOR this November,” said Michael Fields, Colorado Rising State Action executive director, in a statement. “State lawmakers have abused enterprise fees for years as a method to increase revenue and get around asking voters. Itap really simple, voters just want to be asked.”

The measure will now join eight others on the Nov. 3 ballot. The Secretary of State’s Office is still reviewing signatures for two measures.
