Fire engulfs Parker home, causing it to collapse

A house fire in Parker destroyed the property and started a grass fire, . The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, said Connor Christian, public information officer.

Firefighters responded to the 9000 block of Windhaven Drive about 6:20 p.m. Friday. Other agencies, including Elizabeth Fire Protection District, Franktown Fire Protection District and the Douglas County Sheriff’s office, were also at the scene.

The house ended up becoming “completely engulfed in flames and collapsing,” South Metro Fire Rescue reported. The bulk of the fire was put out, and firefighters were tending to spot fires by the late evening hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Christian said.
