Two elderly adults who had been reported missing were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds early Saturday off a trail near Colorado Springs.
At 8:30 p.m. Friday, police received a call about two missing elderly adults who were last known to be hiking near the Edmundson Trailhead, 306 E. Woodmen Road, Colorado Springs police said in a .
Four hours later, around 12:24 a.m., search and rescue teams found the two individuals dead from gunshot wounds near Fountain Creek just off of the Santa Fe Trail, police said.
Violent crime and homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
Police did not provide any potential suspect information.
