Friends, why I support Trump

When friends ask me why I am voting for President Donald Trump, I tell them I’m not voting for a personality, but for policies I believe are best for our country.

• I’m voting for tax policies that keep businesses competitive globally and sustain employment growth and economic opportunity.

• I’m voting for judges who do not legislate from the bench.

• I’m voting for properly funded and trained police departments that protect all citizens regardless of color.

• I’m voting for an accountable and functional Veterans Administration.

• I’m voting for fair trade policies.

• I’m voting for logical immigration laws consistent with international best practices.

• I’m voting for peace through strength.

• I’m voting for all NATO nations to pay their share of the burden.

• I’m voting for peace in the Middle East and the protection of Israel.

• I’m voting for Operation Warp Speed to deliver a COVID vaccine as quickly as possible.

• I’m voting for the continued growth of natural gas through fracking and its positive impact on CO2 emissions.

• I’m voting for sensible abortion laws that protect life in late-term situations.

• I’m voting for the Electoral College, so California and New York do not control the election.

• I’m voting for a market-based health plan that promotes competition, protects pre-existing conditions and reduces cost.

I’m sorry my friends can’t get past hating a president with a disturbing personality but also with sound policies.

Dad, I need you to vote for Biden

Dad, I need you to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris because I need to continue to believe my father is a good man with honor and integrity, who recognizes the importance of right versus wrong; someone who does whatever he can to make a bad situation better.

Donald Trump’s refusal to follow CDC guidance regarding COVID-19 safety protocols is irresponsible. By encouraging us to ignore science, he is perpetuating the spread of COVID-19, which has led to extensive public health and economic consequences, including thousands of deaths. His recklessness led him to contract it. How can we trust a president to protect us when he can’t protect himself?

Your father fought in World War II to defend the basic principles of democracy. Trump is destroying that mission by politicizing our once independent institutions. He is working hard to undermine this election — both on his own and by welcoming foreign interference — eroding generational norms.

Women’s rights are also at stake. I know you want policies in place that will protect your daughter and grandaughters from sexual assault, violence and harassment and will allow us the freedom to do what we want, speak up for we believe in and be treated fairly and with respect. A vote for Biden ensures that the women in your family have access to inclusion and equality.

Finally, we must reject Trump’s divisiveness and chaos and instead restore honor and integrity to the presidency. That means voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
