Deputies responding to the shooting found the clerk lying on the floor of the Circle K behind a counter.
“The victim told Deputies he remembered the suspect was wearing a mask, but could not remember anything else,” the release said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he died in surgery, the sheriff’s office said.
The shooter is described as a white man, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall with an average build. He was wearing a gray hoodie, a black and white plaid jacket or shirt, gray pants, brown shoes and eyeglasses.

Witnesses told deputies they saw a man, matching the description of the shooter, walk away from the store after the incident.
