A suspect has been arrested in a hit-and-run traffic accident that killed a 3-year-old boy on New Year’s Eve in Denver.

Jordan Montiel-Velazquez, 23, was arrested Friday in Aurora in the accident that took place Thursday evening, Denver police spokesman Kurt Barnes said Saturday. He was being held for investigation of the accident that killed Lyndreth Sage Antone.

Police said the crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. Thursday at South Lowell Boulevard and Morrison Road in southwest Denver. They said the driver fled the scene.

A set up to help the family with funeral expenses says the boy was walking home from the store with his father when the accident happened.
