A pedestrian traveling in the middle of a lane on southbound Interstate 25 north of Longmont died after he was hit by a truck early Saturday morning.
Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash about 4:53 a.m., officials said in a news release. The pedestrian was heading north in the middle of the right lane when a FedEx truck headed south on the interstate struck him. He died at the scene.
The Weld County Coroner will release the man’s identity.
The truck’s 35-year-old driver likely won’t face charges, the state patrol said.
Southbound I-25 was closed between Colorado 66 and Colorado 119 northeast of Longmont for much of Saturday morning, causing delays in the area. The interstate reopened around 10:15 a.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
