Woman charged with attempted murder in stabbing of Denver police officer

A 38-year-old woman faces felony charges for allegedly stabbing a Denver police officer.

Alicia Esquibel has been charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault in connection to a January 6 incident at a hotel, 620 Federal Blvd., according to a district attorney’s office news release.

The officer, who was stabbed multiple times, was seriously injured. He has been released from a hospital and is recovering.

Police were called to the Comfort Suites Near Denver Downtown on a report of trespassing and harassment. The stabbing happened as a suspect was being taken into custody.

Esquibel also faces a crime of violence sentence enhancing charge.
