Snow removal equipment clears a taxiway outside the A concourse as a winter storm sweeps over the intermountain West Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at Denver International Airport in Denver. Forecasters predict that the fast-moving storm could leave up to a foot of snow in some parts of the region before giving way to a front packing warmer temperatures for the rest of the week.

Multiple Colorado communities are on accident alert as the all-day snowstorm created slick roads and patches of ice that have led to crashes across the state and could make for a dicey evening commute.

Aurora, Lakewood, Douglas County and unincorporated Jefferson and Clear Creek counties are all on accident alert as authorities respond to multiple crashes.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said snow is expected to fall throughout Tuesday as a storm system moved across southern Colorado with accumulations predicted to be an inch or less in most areas across the plains. Wondering how much it snowed already? Check our snow totals tracker.

Tuesday will see snow mostly between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the metro area. A 30% chance of snow, mainly before 8 p.m., persists overnight. Roads are expected to be slick in most areas, which could mean treacherous driving conditions around Colorado, evidenced by crashes stacking up Tuesday.

Eastbound Interstate 70 at Tower Road is now open following a crash with serious injuries Aurora Police responded to around 4:30 p.m. APD warned commuters to slow down as inclement weather made the roads more dangerous.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 25 at mile marker 255 near Loveland opened around 5 p.m. after being closed for hours due to a multi-vehicle crash including semi-trucks that sent six people to the hospital.
