Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray was fined $25,000 “for striking Dallas Mavericks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. in the groin area,” the NBA announced Wednesday.
Murray was ejected in the third quarter of Monday night’s win in Dallas.
Murray drew a flagrant 2 after he got tangled up with Hardaway Jr. and made excessive contact near Hardaway’s groin.
The two had been physical the entire game. After Murray collided with Hardaway with 4:51 remaining in the third quarter, he pulled himself up by grabbing Hardaway’s leg with his left arm and wrapping his right arm in between his legs. Hardaway immediately grabbed at his groin.
Following the game, Nuggets coach Michael Malone said official Zach Zarba told him replays showed it was “fairly obvious.”
Via broadcast last night, I thought this was the best angle on the Jamal Murray ejection. Can’t entirely see whether there’s a “swipe,” but can see his right hand wrap THJ’s leg.

“Jamal didn’t say anything (before he left the court),” Malone said. “I think it got to that point – there was a lot of physicality between those two.”
