Rockies 2, Mariners 1
Saturday at Salt River Fields

On the mound: Kyle Freeland was sharp in his second Cactus League start, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Ryan Rolison also threw two scoreless innings, and Carlos Estevez blew his save opportunity by allowing a run in the ninth.

At the plate: First baseman Greg Bird hit a walk-off solo homer to right in the bottom of the ninth. Second baseman Brendan Rodgers had an RBI single in the fifth to put Colorado ahead early.

Worth noting: After Rodgers’ RBI single, he came up hobbling while attempting to steal second base. Rodgers left the game with a right hamstring strain. Manager Bud Black said that the team will evaluate Rodgers more on Sunday. “Hopefully, itap just a mild strain,” Black said.
