The Denver Broncos selected Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II with the No. 9 pick in the 2021 NFL draft on Thursday in Cleveland.
Surtain, 21, was the first defensive player selected after a run on quarterbacks dominated the first eight selections. The consensus top defender available, Surtain (6-foot-2, 208 pounds) started 38 games for the Crimson Tide in three years.
