A man was hit by a train and killed in northeast Denver early Sunday morning, according to Denver police.

The incident happened at about 5:28 a.m. along Smith Road between Havana and Peoria streets, according to Denver police.

The incident is being investigated by homicide detectives. Additional details were not immediately available. The man’s name and age have not been released.

The train operator is cooperating with police.
