Authorities searching for attempted homicide suspect on the run in Wheat Ridge

Officials alert residents to stay inside and not to answer their doors

Wheat Ridge Police are searching for a man on the run.

Police say they witnessed a man flee a stolen car around 2:35 a.m. Wednesday at 44th Avenue and Lee Street.

Sara Spaulding, public information officer with the City of Wheat Ridge, says the man is a suspect for an attempted homicide in Westminster.

A CodeRED alert was issued for the area. It is an emergency notification sent by officials to residents alerting them that they should stay inside and not answer their doors.

Police say the suspect is, “a 6-foot-1-inch man in his mid-40s, weighing about 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.”

Authorities warn to not approach the man and to call 911 if you do come in contact.

Police had yet to locate the suspect, according to Spaulding.

Police did not say if the man was armed.
