Enrollment in Denver Public Schools is expected to decrease 6% by 2025 — nearly double the rate of decline that district officials predicted before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a presented to the school board Monday.
Elementary school enrollment, which has been falling for several years now, will continue to decline, the analysis says. But for the first time, officials are predicting declines at the middle school level as smaller cohorts of students move up through the grades.
Denver Public Schools is the largest school district in Colorado, serving about 90,000 students this year. Thatap already down from more than 93,000 students last year — a higher than 3.5% year-over-year enrollment decrease driven by the pandemic.
