Two people died in a single-engine plane crash Wednesday afternoon in Douglas County.
The crash happened at about 1:45 p.m. near South Peoria Street and Ridgegate Parkway, in Lone Tree, said Connor Christian, a South Metro Fire Rescue spokesperson.

Emergency responders are at the scene where a brush fire has broken out, Christian said.
The plane, a single turboprop Lancair Evolution, which was inbound to Centennial Airport, hit a power line causing the crash and the fire, said Kim Spuhler, a SMFR public information officer.
Xcel Energy said that a widespread area around the crash site will experience a planned power outage Wednesday night so “emergency crews can do their work.”
Power Outage
Due to the plane crash at Peoria and Ridgegate, the power company is taking the power lines down. The Town of Parker and the City of Lone Tree should expect a total blackout for upwards of one hour.

“While the crash did not impact electric service to customers, customers in the area will experience an outage tonight,” Xcel said in a statement.
The outage is expected to start at about 10 p.m. and will last up to two hours, Xcel said. The boundaries of the affected area are South Quebec Street to South Chambers Road and C470 to Castle Pines.
“Our thoughts are with those involved in the crash and their families,” Xcel said.
No structures were threatened by the fire, which has been contained with the aid of aircraft, Spuhler said.
A dog also died in the crash, according to SMFR.
