Flash flood watches and warnings posted Thursday afternoon along the Front Range, the foothills and parts of the Denver area as severe thunderstorms rumbled through the area.
On Thursday afternoon Greeley was pounded by about 3 to 4 inches of rain in about an hour’s time, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. A flash flood warning was posted for southwestern Weld County until 3:30 p.m.

Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, gulches, roads, and poor drainage and low-lying areas was expected.
At about 3:20 p.m. a flash flood warning was posted for central Arapahoe County, according to the weather service, where storms dumped between 2 and 3 inches of rain in a short span. Some locations expected to be hit with flash flooding include eastern Aurora and Bennett.
Denver and other parts of the metro area were under a flash flood watch on Thursday afternoon. Watches ran along the Front Range from Fort Collins to Pueblo.
