Heavy rain falling across Colorado’s Front Range could cause flash flooding across the metro on Thursday evening, including in parts of Denver, Jefferson, Douglas and Arapahoe counties, forecasters said.

Forecasters issued a that lasts until at least 7 p.m.

The warning area includes southwest Aurora, east Centennial, Greenwood Village, Foxfield, Cherry Creek Reservoir and the South Platte River, agency officials said in the alert.

“Excessive runoff from this storm will cause flash flooding of small creeks and streams, highways, streets, underpasses, drainage areas and other low lying spots,” forecasters wrote.

Weather radars and rain gauges detected thunderstorms that have already produced between .5 and 3 inches of rain and more is expected, according to the agency.

This is a developing story.
