Denver will see mostly sunny skies for the Fourth of July — just be ready to dash inside during a few potential afternoon thunderstorms.
The region can expect sunshine with a high of about 93 degrees until about 2 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service at Boulder. After that, there’s a 20-30% chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the metro area, according to the weather service.
Some thunderstorms could bring brief heavy rain in northeast and north central Colorado, and there’s a moderate threat for flash flooding in burn areas.
Skies in Denver will likely be cloudy at the start of the night — the 20% chance of rain continues until about 11 p.m. — but will gradually clear as the night wears on.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and early evening. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall with the burn areas over the mountains and foothills most susceptible to flash flooding.
