A homicide suspect exchanged gun fire with Northglenn and Thornton police officers on a golf course Wednesday and the suspect was shot dead, police said.

The incident unfolded about 11:30 a.m. when Northglenn police attempted to stop the suspect in the 10300 block of Malley Drive, Northglenn police said in a news release.

The suspect fled in a vehicle northbound on Washington Street and the vehicle stopped on the roadside at East 136th Avenue. The suspect fled on foot across the Thorncreek Golf Course, police said.

Shots were exchanged and the suspect was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. No officers were injured.

The shooting is under investigation. The suspect’s name was not released Wednesday.
