A four-vehicle crash on U.S. 285 in Jefferson County killed two people Thursday. An adult died at the scene, and a child was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The crash happened about 3:40 p.m., the State Patrol said, between Pine Junction and Conifer. Four people injured in the crash were taken to hospitals, including the child.
As of about 9 p.m. Thursday, one lane was open in each direction. An hour later the highway fully reopened.
