After three straight trips to the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets, Coloradans have been inspired to name their dogs after the team’s mascot. That or locals have turned their eyes to the majestic mountains to our west. According to Rover, Rocky was the fourth most popular male dog name in Denver in 2021.
The name of Denver’s super mascot on the hardwood didn’t quite jump in popularity the way Jane has for dogs and Bailey for cats, each up nearly 1,000%.
While the pet sitting app may only have the names of registered pets, it does include millions of names from across the country. The most used names across the United States for dogs are Max and Bella. Rocky made the national top 10, so maybe it’s not so inspired by the mountains or Nuggets.
