The NFL suspended linebacker rookie Darius Hodge two games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

It is unclear what Hodge took that led to the suspension, but the league doesn’t announce suspensions unless the appeals process has been concluded.

Hodge, a former Marshall standout whom the Dolphins claimed after the Cincinnati Bengals waived him in November, won’t play in Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. He’ll be eligible to return to the team for the Jan. 2 road game against the Tennessee Titans.

Hodge won’t be paid for the games he misses as part of the NFL’s punishment. He’s also not allowed to be at the team facility until his suspension concludes.

Hodge, who contributed 117 tackles and 15.5 sacks during the 34 college games he played, hasn’t played in a game for the Dolphins this season but he did play in four games with the Bengals earlier this season.
