A 38-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning by gunfire in Aurora in an apparent domestic violence incident.
Police are investigating a shooting near 291 S. Jasper Circle at the Glen at the Park Apartments. A man, 28, was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. Police believe his gunshot wound to be self-inflected. He is expected to survive, police said. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
“The man and woman were known to one another and are believed to have been in a relationship,” police said in an afternoon news release.
Police say the couple was in a verbal altercation before the shooting and that they have responded to this house several times in the past few months. A gun was recovered at the residence.
A teenage girl was in the home at the time of the shooting, which was reported to police at 6:56 a.m., and she was taken to police headquarters.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after her family has been notified. An investigation is ongoing.
