Four people have died from a two-vehicle crash in Commerce City on Friday night, police said.

The crash happened at about 9:25 p.m. at East 112th Avenue and U.S. 85, police said in a news release. Four people died. Three other people from the crash are hospitalized.

Witnessed told police that the driver of an SUV was heading south on U.S. 85 at a high speed, and another SUV turned west onto East 112th Avenue from northbound U.S. 85 when the collision happened in the intersection.

Excessive speed is a contributing factor in the crash, police said. An investigation is ongoing. The Friday night crash is the second fatal traffic crash in the city this year.
