A 60-year-old man “was discovered missing” from a federal prison site in Littleton on Sunday morning, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Frank Elliott, who was serving a 12-year prison sentence on drug charges, could not be found Sunday at the minimum security facility where he was incarcerated. The facility is a “satellite camp” adjacent to the Federal Correctional Institute Englewood, Lesha Starr, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Prisons, said in a statement Sunday.
Elliott was found to be missing around 10:15 a.m., Starr said. Law enforcement agencies were notified and an internal investigation started, she said.
Starr described the escape as a “walkaway” in her statement but gave no further details about how or when Elliott left the facility and did not return a request for more information Sunday.
Elliott was sentenced to 12 years in prison in South Dakota after he was convicted of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. He was not set to be released until 2031.
The minimum security facility where Elliott was incarcerated houses 123 prisoners.
