The NHL on Tuesday fined Blues left wing David Perron $5,000 for his cross-check on Avalanche center Nazem Kadri during Colorado’s 6-3 win in Game 4 on Monday.

The incident occurred at the 5:30 mark in the second period. Perron came in and cross-checked Kadri down onto the ice. Then, as Kadri was trying to get up, Perron then jumped on top of him and the two slid into the boards by the St. Louis bench.

The fine is the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement and the money will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Avs lead the series 3-1. The two teams will meet for Game 5 at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ball Arena.
