Nathan MacKinnon scored his first goal of the Avalanche-Blues series in the first period of Game 5 at Ball Arena.
The goal came at 16:09 and was the sixth goal of the postseason for MacKinnon.
The wrist shot from MacKinnon was deflected by the defender but still had enough juice to hit the back of the net.
The Avalanche superstar then proceeded to take over the rest of the period, flying around the ice with incredible bursts of energy. The result: Goal No. 2 came on the power play at 18:23. And he nearly had a first-period hat trick with 14 seconds left in the frame, but the shot was denied by Ville Husso.
