Showers and storms are expected Monday in Denver with temperatures reaching into the low 80s, the National Weather Service said.

Rain and thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon while winds are expected to reach between 6 and 11 mph with gusts as high as 18 mph, the weather service said.

The weather service warned that the eastern plains could experience gusts of wind up to 60 mph and large hail during the afternoon storms.

The weather is expected to calm down to a slight chance of showers overnight, the weather service said.

A slight chance of thunderstorms is expected to continue through Thursday, while sunny, warm weather comes to the Denver metro.

Tuesday is forecast to reach a high of 83 degrees under sunny skies, while Wednesday is expected to warm to 80 degrees with mostly sunny weather. Thursday is expected to jump up to a high of 90 degrees.
