Feltner has supplanted left-hander Austin Gomber in the rotation. Gomber, the centerpiece of the Nolan Arenado trade with St. Louis last year, has been sent to the bullpen — at least for now. Feltner is making his sixth start of the season and the eighth of his big-league career. He turned in his second career quality start on June 11 at San Diego, allowing one run across six innings with one walk and six strikeouts. In four career starts on the road, he’s posted a 4.12 ERA.
With Jesus Luzardo (forearm), Cody Poteet (elbow) and Edward Cabrera (elbow) all on the injured list, Castano will make his second consecutive start for Miami. The 27-year-old lefty was excellent in his first big-league start of the season last week, blanking the Phillies for 6 2/3 innings while allowing just five hits and two walks. He struck out three.
Trending: Left-handed reliever Lucas Gilbreath has allowed just one earned run across his last 15 innings since May 14, good for a 0.60 ERA.
At issue: The Rockies continue to struggle on the road, but at least they are better than they were last season. In 2022, they are 11-18 on the road with a minus-62 run differential, have averaged 3.0 runs per game, and own a team ERA of 4.86. Through the first 29 road games last season, the Rockies were 5-24, with a minus-78 run differential, averaged 2.5 runs per game, and had a team ERA of 5.41.
