Firefighters from several departments responded to a grass fire Tuesday afternoon near Erie.

The fire, in the area of Huron Street and West 175th Avenue, is under control and no injuries were reported, according to Mountain View Fire Rescue.

There were initial evacuation orders for nearby areas in Erie and Broomfield, those orders have been lifted.

At 4:19 p.m., MVFR said that the grass fire and “involved structures” were under control.

“No further need for evacuation,” MVFR said on Twitter. Area residents were advised to close windows because of drifting smoke.

MVFR, North Metro Fire Rescue District and the Lafayette Fire Department responded to the fire. Firefighters urged the public to avoid the area for safety reasons.

At least one building was burned in the fire. Firefighters remained on the scene into the evening  to work on “debris piles” that were part of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
