Firefighters in Eagle County on Tuesday worked on three wildfires and a fourth wildfire is burning in southwestern Colorado near Durango.

The Red Hill fire, southwest of Dotsero, has burned about 25 acres, according to the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit. The fire, burning on Red Hill above Sky Legend, was reported on Friday. It is burning in sagebrush, juniper and pinyon and air support has been ordered to fight the fire.

“There is currently no threat to life safety or property,” firefighters said on social media. A helicopter and a large air tanker made retardant drops on the fire on Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Lightning strikes have hit the area in recent days.

Also on Tuesday afternoon, county officials said firefighters doused a tree that caught on fire. The Buckhorn fire was declared “under control” at 3:55 p.m. and it burned about 1/10 of an acre.

Also in Eagle County, the Wapiti fire was reported at 2:04 p.m., officials said. The fire, north of Interstate 70 near Eagle, has burned about 1/10th of an acre. It was declared contained at 2:44 p.m.

Smoke from the Twin Butte fire was visible Tuesday in Durango. The fire is burning between Twin Buttes and County Road 206. The fire has burned about 1/2 acre and no structures are threatened. Air resources have been ordered to assist ground crews working on the fire.
