An inmate at the Denver jail died Saturday at the Denver Health Medical Center

At about 8:50 p.m. Thursday, an inmate was found by deputies in an unresponsive state in a housing unit, according to a news release. He was treated on scene and transferred by paramedics to the hospital where he died on Saturday.

“The individual was not being monitored for COVID-19 symptoms,” the sheriff’s department said. The death is being investigated by Denver police.

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release the name of the inmate pending notification of family.
