A man was thrown across a doughnut shop’s dining room as a recreational vehicle crashed into a Winchell’s Donut House in Lakewood Monday morning, .

The RV hit the front of Winchell’s at Pierce Street and West Colfax Avenue, sending the driver and a man who was in the doughnut shop to the hospital.

Firefighters also rescued a dog from the RV. The pet wasn’t injured and is with Lakewood Animal Control, according to a follow-up tweet by West Metro Fire Rescue.

The driver was taken to the hospital in “emergent” condition with no word on their injuries, but the man who was inside the business had non-life-threatening injuries.

He was sitting at a table directly hit by the RV, fire officials said, and was thrown “across the room.” He was conscious and talking to firefighters.

The front of the business was heavily damaged, and the West Metro Fire’s technical rescue team is working on the building. The team sent its drone into the air to check for HVAC units on the rooftop and potential collapse hazards.
