RTD faces tremendous financial, staffing and ridership challenges. How do you envision RTD’s role in the Denver metro region evolving to meet its transportation needs?
RTD is a whole region serving over 3.08 million Coloradans. We have the talent and the ridership; finances, I don’t have an answer, but I am willing to serve and collaborate with the other board members to set RTD up for success and excellence in providing the services we need.
Do you support seeking voter approval for a sales tax increase to improve existing bus routes, with more frequency and dependability, and to create more new bus rapid transit corridors?
I do not have enough information nor insight to give an answer at this time.
How high of a priority should RTD make finishing the remaining FasTracks rail expansions, including the train to Boulder and Longmont? And how should the agency cover those costs, which are estimated at $2.2 billion?
I do believe that finishing the FasTracks rail lines is important work, but not until RTD has secured the proper funding to do so. It will take time and we are already facing some layover challenges from the pandemic and current economic climate. I am open to hearing ideas and working together to expand all lines including north Adams County.
How should RTD restructure its fare system to be more equitable for low-income riders?
Accessibility to RTD is super important for working individuals, I know there already exists a plethora of discounted rates for different riders. But I challenge the idea that fare reduction is the only answer. To fill a tank of gas at $180/month a monthly pass is only $114, that looks like money saved and some fresh air to me.
What should RTD do to improve safety and security on its buses and trains?
I am excited to have RTD Chief-of-Police Fitzgerald with the leadership of GM/CEO Johnson. While accountability and oversight are important, there is no easy answer. RTD serves 40 municipalities. I hope that together we can safely serve every human we transport and earn the public’s trust and respect.
RTD sirve a 40 municipalidades.
How candidate order was determined: A lot drawing was held at the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office on Aug. 3 to determine the general election ballot order for major and minor party candidates. Colorado law (1-5-404, C.R.S.) requires that candidates are ordered on the ballot in three tiers: major party candidates followed by minor party candidates followed by unaffiliated candidates. Within each tier, the candidates are ordered by a lot drawing with the exception of the office of Governor and Lt. Governor, which are ordered by the last name of the gubernatorial candidate.
