A fatal crash partially closed Interstate 70 westbound at Georgetown Thursday morning, according to Colorado State Police.
The crash involved a jack-knifed semitrailer, the agency said in a statement. The interstate was initially completely closed, with westbound traffic rerouted back to the east. But one westbound lane opened around 10:30 a.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Anyone who planned to drive on I-70 west through Georgetown should wait for the road to reopen before heading out, according to state police. Truckers are advised to wait in the Denver metro area.
The mountains saw wintery conditions Thursday, with elevations above 9,000 feet expected to receive between 4 and 8 inches of snow. Visibility was expected to be low and roads expected to be snow-covered.
