A pair of former Broncos second-round picks headline players with Colorado connections selected in Wednesday’s 2022 XFL draft.

Former Denver receiver Cody Latimer and safety Rahim Moore are among the names announced in the initial draft for the third iteration of the league originally founded by retired WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

The 30-year-old Latimer, selected by the Broncos with the 56th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, was picked by the Orlando Guardians in the 11th round (84th overall pick) in the offensive skills portion. He played four seasons in Denver, totaling 35 catches for 445 yards and three touchdowns.

Moore, 32, was drafted by Arlington in the eighth round (59th overall) of the defensive backs portion of the draft. The former 2011 pick by Denver is in his second run with the league after playing for D.C. in 2020. The hard-hitting safety may be best remembered for his flub in the 2013 playoffs when he mistimed his jump, allowing a touchdown by the Ravens to tie the game in the divisional round. Denver would lose 38-35 in overtime.

Among the offensive skill players, other former Broncos selected include tight ends Dylan Parham (San Antonio) and Shaun Beyer (Arlington), receivers Darrius Shepherd (St. Louis) and Damion Willis (Seattle), and running backs Adrian Killins (Houston) and Max Borghi (Houston). Borghi, who was cut during training camp prior to the 2022 season, also starred at Pomona High School in Arvada.

Former Falcon High School standout running back Kalen Ballage was selected in the sixth round (46th overall pick) by San Antonio. Also of note, former Wyoming running back Brian Hill was picked with the next pick by St. Louis.

In the defensive backs portion, former Broncos include Parnell Motley (D.C.), De’Vante Bausby (Arlington), Kary Vincent Jr. (San Antonio), Linden Stephens (Seattle), Kevin Toliver (Houston) and Rojesterman Farris (Seattle). Additionally, tormer Adams State standout A’brae Booker-Curtain was selected by San Antonio.

Five former Broncos players were picked in the defensive front seven section: Niles Scott (D.C.), Andre Mintze (D.C.), Stansly Maponga (Orlando), Pita Taumoepenu (Vegas) and Josh Watson (Arlington). Watson also played collegiately at Colorado State.

The offensive linemen and specialists are still to be drafted.
