A person was killed early Wednesday morning after being hit by a vehicle.
The crash happened near 56th Avenue and Peña Boulevard near Gateway, the Denver Police Department said in a 5:05 a.m. tweet.
Heads Up: officers are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a motorist at 56th near Peña Blvd. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver remained on scene. Investigation is ongoing. WB 56th is closed at Tower. Alternate routes advised.

The person who was hit died at the scene, police said, and the driver of the car stayed at the scene.
The crash closed 56th Avenue between Peña Boulevard and Tower Road.
