A wind storm across much of Colorado Friday could cause some power outages and affect driving conditions through the afternoon.

Denver will get some of the lightest winds compared to the rest of the state; drivers are advised to if possible due to wind gusts reaching up to 75 mph in some areas.

The strongest winds so far have been along and south of Interstate 70.

The high in Denver Friday is 52 degrees, and the city will reach that by 11 a.m. before a cold front drops the temperature to about 39 degrees the rest of the day.

The cold front is bringing snow to the mountains, which will also affect driving conditions. One to six inches is expected across most of the high country, but the Rabbit Ears Pass and Park Range areas could see 10 to 12 inches of snow.

Metro Denver will be spared from the snow, but the cold front will drop the low temperature to 19 degrees overnight. Windy conditions will persist overnight, too, but won’t be as strong as during the day.

Saturday will warm back up to a high of 49 degrees and be mostly sunny in Denver, and Sunday will also be mostly sunny with a high of 52 degrees. There will be some scattered snow showers in the high country Saturday and Sunday.
