The Ravens have waived inside linebacker Josh Bynes ahead of Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, parting ways with the veteran leader two months after he last appeared in a game.
Bynes, 33, a member of the Ravens’ Super Bowl XLVII-winning team, started 19 games over the past two years in his return to Baltimore, including the first seven this season. But injury troubles and limitations in coverage before the midseason deadline. Bynes, who has 29 tackles (two for loss), a sack and an interception this season, hasn’t played since Week 7.
Undrafted rookie Josh Ross, who was designated to return to practice last week, could help the team’s depth at inside linebacker on the 53-man roster. The Michigan product played 36 special teams snaps over the Ravens’ first two games before landing on injured reserve with a foot injury.
The Ravens also elevated quarterback Anthony Brown and wide receiver Andy Isabella for Saturday’s game. Brown, an undrafted rookie from Oregon, has been active the past two games while backing up Tyler Huntley. Lamar Jackson, who hasn’t played since Week 13, was ruled out of Saturday’s game on Thursday with a knee injury.
Isabella, a second-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2019, signed with the Ravens’ practice squad in October. He had two catches on five targets for 21 yards with Arizona this season before he was released. The 5-foot-9 Isabella is expected to make his Ravens debut alongside wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who rejoined the team this week after being claimed off waivers.
The Ravens also signed defensive tackle Isaiah Mack off their practice squad, bolstering their depth up front with defensive lineman Calais Campbell sidelined by a knee injury. Mack played 14 defensive snaps in the Ravens’ Week 8 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and appeared in two games last season.
