Berthoud Pass on U.S. 40 is closed for the second day in a row due to avalanche activity.

According to a tweet from the Colorado Department of Transportation, lanes were closed in both directions at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday between Henderson Mine Road and the Mary Jane Ski Area near Winter Park.

The department announced on its trip planner website that snow removal operations would continue until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

A longer portion of U.S. 40 was closed for about five hours Tuesday because of avalanche conditions.
