Logistics is the often-overlooked engine that keeps global commerce running smoothly. It encompasses everything from transportation and permitting, to managing the complexities of emergency air charter and turnaround operations for large industrial partners. Those working in logistics are the unsung heroes who ensure that freight gets from point A to point B, overcoming obstacles and solving complex problems along the way.
Founded by Gayle and Karen Dendinger in their basement in 1982, and now helmed by their children Rebecca Kersting and David Dendinger, CAP Logistics has transformed from a single truck to an international operation with over one hundred dedicated professionals. With offices in Denver, Houston, Salt Lake City, and representatives throughout the country, the company has become a leading provider of customized shipping solutions, supporting diverse industries such as oil & gas, mining, construction, food and beverage, aviation & aerospace, and power generation.
For example, CAP recently shipped a custom stunt plane to Dubai, on behalf of RedBull, who landed it atop the Burj Al-Arab helipad in a record-breaking stunt. They have also used the Antonov, one of the world’s largest nose-load cargo planes, to move oversized critical parts for their customers.
David Dendinger, emphasizes the appeal of a career in logistics: “Working in logistics means being a part of something bigger. We help businesses and communities thrive, and every day is a new challenge that pushes us to think outside the box.”
CAP Logistics’ unwavering focus on innovation, customer service, and community partnership has earned it recognition as a Denver Post Top Workplace for two consecutive years. Among its many initiatives, CAP has imported and philanthropically distributed masks for essential workers during COVID, provided relief to areas affected by severe weather like Hurricane Sandy and the Texas Freeze, delivered surplus coats from U.S. ski resorts to provide warmth overseas, and transported books to rural schools in South Africa.
When faced with pandemic-related supply chain disruptions, CAP Logistics demonstrated its adaptability and resilience. Rebecca Kersting explains how they maintained their mission control-like operations: “We implemented virtual huddles, agile project management tools, and state-of-the-art workstations, empowering our teams to collaborate efficiently from any location. These innovative strategies helped us drive success for our clients and our team.”
Based in Colorado, CAP Logistics enjoys a unique advantage. The state’s strategic location, robust economy, and business-friendly environment have contributed to the company’s ongoing growth and success. “The state’s strong focus on health and well-being also supports a balanced lifestyle for our team members,” says Rebecca Kersting.
With an unyielding commitment to excellence and a clear vision for the future, CAP Logistics is poised to remain at the forefront of global logistics solutions. The inspiring story of this family-run company not only highlights the importance of logistics as a critical component of modern commerce but also showcases the potential for success when driven by passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference in the world.
