
Delays for flights in and out of Denver International Airport continued to rise Thursday afternoon as heavy rain drenched the area.
The total rose from 167 delayed flights in or out of Denver just before 10 a.m. to 417 delays as of 2:30 p.m., according to flight tracking website FlightAware.
Another 20 flights have been canceled so far.
Southwest Airlines has 162 delays and United Airlines has 124 delays.
The delays are almost split evenly between arrivals and departures.
On Wednesday, 608 flights into and out of DIA were delayed, with 129 flights canceled, FlightAware found.
Thunderstorms hovered over Colorado’s Front Range Thursday for a second day, buffeting cities and the high plains with heavy rain, lightning and hail. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch in Colorado effective through Friday afternoon.
